Malignant Melanoma

Malignant melanoma (MM) has the potential for being the most aggressive skin cancer, but also is nearly 100% treatable with a simple excision when discovered early, in the “in-situ” stage. In-situ means that the abnormal cells are confined to the upper layer of the skin, where the lesion is amenable to surgical excision with an excellent prognosis. When performing a complete skin exam, Dr. Sadoff will be able to evaluate lesions occurring in areas that are difficult for us to see on ourselves, so that any abnormal appearing lesion can be biopsied. In a biopsy procedure, within a few minutes the concerning skin is sampled or removed entirely and sent for microscopic evaluation. The specialized, board-certified dermatopathologist will determine the precise diagnosis.
